Pastor's Connection

There is a theme that we consistently find throughout Scripture, and it is the
theme of godliness.  Adam and Eve were commanded to live in innocence, godly
lives.  The Children of Israel were promised blessing and provision when they
lived lives that were seen by the world as godly lives.  The Apostle Paul
challenges Believers in Christ to live as godly people in this world.  And Peter
reminded us to live godly lives as we anticipate the coming of Christ and our
eternal state.  But, godliness does not happen automatically.  Paul instructed
young Timothy with these words…

One of my favorite characters from childhood was Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. I had so many good laughs from his comments and demeanor on life.  I can still hear his voice in my head today.  He once made this statement that resounded in my heart recently, “A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference.”

 

As I have been studying and preparing to teach these last few verses of the book of Ephesians, that truth resonates over and over.  Paul simply says, be subject to one another in the fear of the Lord.  He gives more specifics which we will focus on throughout this month, but the main theme for imitating God, walking worthy of who we are, and being controlled by the Holy Spirit is giving consideration and thought for others before yourself.
